SIR – I was interested to read the comments made by Councillor [Marc] Bayliss saying that the council is not an employment agency and does not employ staff for employment’s sake (Worcester News, June 23).
Perhaps he should read the headlines from a few weeks ago where the city council’s cleaner and greener division were employing a consultant at £600 a day (Worcester News, April 24).
Let’s not forget, councillor, you once represented the other side (Labour) and the Conservatives managed to employ you.
As for the wage underspend, maybe that was because under the new council restructure, staff were made redundant and the savings were made that way.
