SIR – Having recently lodged my detailed objection with Wychavon to the latest planning application for 700 homes on Yew Tree Hill, Droitwich, there are a couple of general observations I would like to make.

Nobody in their right mind would vote to become swallowed up in an urban sprawl when they have lived for many years on the edge of town with easy access to the beautiful countryside that we call Yew Tree Hill.

I understand that permission has already been given for 927 houses in Droitwich and Wychbold in the last 18 months and I feel to approve a new ‘village’ on top of Yew Tree Hill would be the last straw.

Our MP Peter Luff says the Government is relaxing planning controls with the aim of stimulating the building industry.

If this is the case, all areas of Wychavon should carry their fair share of the burden.

It would be very interesting to know how many similar developments have been approved in and around Evesham and Pershore during the same period.

To conclude, the applicant entitles his proposed development ‘Yew Tree Village’.

Whoever heard of a village with an indoor bowls facility and offices but without a village hall or youth centre?

This is the second time this proposal has been put forward and the strength of opposition can be gauged from the objections posted on the Wychavon website.

We only have until Thursday to do this and the planning application is 366 pages long.

However, I think we can still post our objections after this date and they will be considered.
