SIR – I have received the latest copy of City Life magazine.

This is really just a promotion gimmick for the controlling Conservative party. How much does it cost to produce?

There appears to be only one outside advert, which means that the full cost of this publication is paid for by the rate-payers of Worcester.

The cost will include the salaries of the editorial team, the printing costs and a delivery charge.

This council is cutting services and reducing staff in order to save money.

However, they are quite happy to have thousands of these magazines printed and delivered to every household in Worcester. A magazine that the majority of Worcester residents do not want.

Why do the Conservative councillors continue to support the publication?

Answer: they hope it helps get them re-elected.

We in Worcester and the surrounding area are fortunate to have an excellent local newspaper in the Worcester News, which costs just a few pence a day. This will keep residents up to date on local issues. There is also the free Berrow’s Worcester Journal every Friday.

The Conservative-controlled council should stop wasting rate-payers’ hard-earned cash – but I don’t expect it to.
