Asda is extending its ‘Kids Eat for £1’ café meal deal to cover May half term.

The kids café menu was refreshed in April with more nutritionally balanced options including vegan and healthy meal options.

During the two-week Easter holiday period, Asda served 115,000 meals with the offer.

The offer was launched in June 2022 by the supermarket for kids under the age of 16, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a hot meal in any of Asda’s cafés nationwide.

Overall, Asda has served 1.6 million meals to kids from its cafes nationwide and those claiming the offer don’t need to spend a minimum amount to qualify.

The kids menu has a variety of meal options including two new dishes - Penne Pasta with Meatballs and a vegan Hidden Veg pasta meal.

The existing menu options remain available in the supermarket's cafes but chips can be swapped for a salad or peas.

Children will also receive a piece of fruit such as an apple, banana or pear with their £1 meal.

Cold pick-and-mix meal options are also available instead of the hot meals with children able to get a sandwich, a piece of fruit and a drink.

New treats are also included within the Asda cafe menu such as a jelly pot with whole fruit pieces or a jelly squeeze pouch as an alternative to a pack of crisps.

Kris Comerford, Asda’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We know that when families are preparing for half term it can often mean an additional strain on household budgets.

“Since the launch of our kids £1 café meal deals in June 2022, we continue to see a significant increase in the number of meals we serve during the school breaks, and we are proud to be able to continue to provide a lifeline to families by extending the offer to cover the May half term holidays.

“We have now served over 1,600,000 million meals since the launch and we hope by continuing to keep this offer running it will help support many more families in the coming weeks.”
