Channel 4 architectural show Grand Designs returns to screens after a short break as host Kevin McCloud meets the ambitious individuals building their dream homes.

The 23 previous seasons have seen everything from giant curved glass homes to mansions built out of clay and former water towers.

Now, more keen builders are ready to take on the task not for the faint-hearted as Kevin travels around the UK to see the new builds in Grand Designs.

Recent builds on the series of Grand Designs have seen one couple build an impressive family home on a former reservoir site in Wye Valley.

This week's edition of the Channel 4 program will see Kevin visit Hackney in London as couple Graeme and Melanie take on a huge task.

Hackney couple take on tiny plot in new Grand Designs

Joining Graeme and Melanie in Hackney, Kevin will see their highly ambitious plans to build on a tiny twin garage plot with no surrounding land that cost them £275,000.

Graeme designed the home with his architectural skills and plans to create an unapologetically modernist, bright red-clad design.

Set across three floors, the couple hope to complete the build in just 12 months, but will they be able to do it?

Grand Designs airs at 9pm on Wednesdays on Channel 4 and All 4.
