A NEW children's book featuring illustrations by a Stourbridge rock musician has gone on sale.

WEAK13 frontman Nick J Townsend kept a promise he made back in his college years that he would illustrate his friend’s first children’s book.

The self-published offering, Flo and Teddy Visit The Fair - by Louise E. Lench, has now gone on sale and has already been going down a storm on Amazon.

Aimed at two to five-year-olds - the book, which promises to be the first in a series, follows best friends - Teddy the tiger and the Flo the Elephant - and includes a colouring section at the back.

Nick, who works at Stourbridge's Base Studios, said: "We're getting orders coming in and it reached number three on the Amazon charts; it's a good start for us."

He said he sketched many of the scenes in Stourbridge coffee shops during his lunch breaks and while waiting for trains at the town's railway station.

Nick and pal Louise, who was inspired by her young son to take up writing, are now busy working together on a second book which they hope to release in a year's time.
