FAMILIES attending a fun event at Worcester’s Guildhall earlier this month were offered free advice on choosing the best healthcare service.
NHS staff were on hand on Wednesday, August 6 offering information on the NHS 111 service and alternatives to A&E.
The event was arranged by Action for Children – a national charity running Worcestershire’s early help service – to celebrate National Playday, a day promoting the importance for children to get out and play.
Engagement manager for NHS South Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group Helen Perry-Smith was on hand providing information on the Is A&E For Me campaign, which is working to ease the pressure on hospitals.
“This event provided a great opportunity for anyone who looks after children to find out more about the campaign and the range of services available if their children become injured or unwell,” she said.
“A natural reaction can be to take a child to A&E if they’re suffering but there are plenty of alternative services that can deal with things like cuts, grazes, coughs and colds, like Minor Injury Units, GP practices, Pharmacies or by calling NHS 111.
“The reaction that we received at this event was very positive, with most people knowing the options available to them in Worcestershire.”
