AN NHS strike planned to take place on Thursday has been called off.
Union members were due to walk out between 9am and 9pm on January 29 in a long-running row over pay, but this afternoon it was announced the strike had been postponed following a series of meeting with health secretary Jeremy Hunt.
Trade union Unison has said members are to be consulted into proposals put forward by the Department for Health.
A four week work to rule due to start after Thursday’s strike and a 24-hour walkout planned for Wednesday, February 25 has also been called off.
This was to be latest action in a long-running row after the government refused to implement a one per cent pay rise to all NHS staff.
