COMMUNITY groups in the Evesham area are being offered free first aid training thanks to a legacy left by a community stalwart.
Thanks to a £110,000 legacy left by Bretforton market gardener Arthur Smith when he died in 2011, St John Ambulance is able to run free lifesaving courses in the area.
The organisation’s community training co-ordinator for the West Midlands Emma Elgerton said: “These courses are perfect for any local group or organisation – from brownies and playgroups to church and sports groups.
“Locals can even create their own informal group, whether that’s neighbours, families or friends who want to get together and learn these life saving skills.
“No-one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it.
“You never know when you might need to use first aid – and Evesham locals could make the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”
