GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S police force has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) over its handling of a suspected murder in the Forest of Dean.
Police were called to a maisonette in Meek Road, Newent, at 10.40pm on Wednesday, August 12 where they found the body of a 43-year-old man from the town.
This afternoon the force announced as a result of previous police contact with those involved it had voluntarily referred itself to the IPCC so officer’s actions prior to the death could be reviewed.
In a statement Gloucestershire Police said it would be “inappropriate” to comment further at this stage.
A 51-year-old local woman was arrested on Wednesday evening on suspicion of murder and earlier today Cheltenham Magistrates Court made an order for her to be detained for a further 36 hours for questioning.
Anyone with any information on the death can call Gloucestershire police on 101 quoting incident 514-s-120815.
Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
