AS THE nights draw in police are reminding people in Worcestershire to take a few simple steps to keep burglars away.
West Mercia Police is advising people to use timer switches to turn lights on at night – using low energy bulbs where possible – and to lock all doors and downstairs windows even when at home.
Burglar alarms should also be set and valuables such as keys and wallets should not be left near windows or letterboxes where thieves may be able to see them or potentially reach them.
Gates and side entrances such also be secured and external lighting will also help deter potential criminals.
For advice and information or to report any problems call police in 101. In an emergency always dial 999.
