RESIDENTS affected by the flash flooding in May are being invited to a meeting held by the National Flood Forum.

An insurance surgery will be open on August 16 at Wythall Village Hall, Alcester Road, to anyone whose home was affected by the flooding.

In May, the villages of Hollywood in Wythall were hit by localised flooding after an unprecedented rain storm drowned the area.

Floodwater five foot deep filled the streets, leaving cars submerged and up to 100 homes affected.

Councillor Tony Miller, cabinet member with responsibility for the environment at Worcestershire County Council, said: "The consequences of this flooding will still be felt by those affected for a long time into the future.

"At the county council, we have made a commitment to thoroughly investigate the flooding and we will work in partnership with the community and all its partners.

"We are grateful that the National Flood Forum can return to Wythall, bringing their specialist knowledge and support."

Bromsgrove District Council leader and ward member for Wythall West, councillor geoff denaro said: “I have been talking to the affected residents and one thing that keeps cropping up is inconsistency of insurers’ responses.

“So this surgery is more than welcome and will help signpost our residents who suffered losses during the floods, to the right organisations and support which they need.”

The surgery will operate a drop-in service for anyone struggling with insurance.

The National Flood Forum will be at the village hall from 1pm to 7pm.
