THE first of Bromyard’s Great War commemorative events saw more than 135 people take part in a Poppy Pageant Parade.

Organised by the town's Royal British Legion it was held at the rugby club in Bromyard.

The parade was led out by 151 RAF Cadets Drummers from Leominster which was their first public performance. They were followed by senior citizens and residents from the Bromyard Care Homes and further members of the public.

Participants brought along their Bromyard bypass poppies which have been made by people across the town.

The next commemorative event starts on October 21 when 4,000 of these poppies will be planted on the Bromyard bypass to form a display in honour of the 3,000 men from Herefordshire who fell during the First World War.
