BUSINESSES in and around Malvern have won prizes in the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence 2018.

The Abbey Hotel in Abbey Road has been named best hotel, while Sidney House in Worcester Road took the award for best provider of guest accommodation.

And the Hop Shed in Suckley, won the title for best drink producer.

Sales manager Rachel Proctor said: "We are delighted to have won the award and we want to thank all our teams at the hotel for all their hard work and for making this possible."

Alexandra Thornton-Hopwood said: "We were absolutely over the moon as we are only in our second year of running Sidney House and it has been a real labour of love."

Sarah Saleh of the Hop Shed said: “We are a brewery based just outside Malvern, on hop farms. We use the hops from the farm in the beer that we make. We are promoting our beers as Worcestershire ales. We are a new business, we have been going almost two years now.

“It means a lot to win an award for such a young business. We very much feel part of the community. Lots of people come and visit our bar, which we open only Fridays and Saturdays. The community comes in and it is a really friendly place to have a business."
