MP Nigel Huddleston has visited Fladbury to give his support to the village's Neighbourhood Watch scheme.

Mr Huddleston, MP for Mid-Worcestershire, presented watch co-ordinator Ian Baldry with two new community street signs.

The presentation followed a Neighbourhood Watch Community event last month in Fladbury attended by Tracey Onslow, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia Police.

Mr Huddleston said: “Neighbourhood Watch has been part of the British landscape for 36 years.

"Through the innovative use of social media West Mercia Neighbourhood Watch is changing the face of community engagement with the average age having fallen from 60 to 40 years old.

"The existence of schemes such as here in Fladbury will help bring communities closer together in reducing the risk of crime along with the fear of crime.

"I would urge all communities large or small who do not have an established Neighbourhood Watch  to follow the example of Fladbury.”

Village residents are now being urged to sign up to their Fladbury Neighbourhood Watch to help prevent crime and protect their properties.

Volunteer organisers for West Mercia Neighbourhood Watch say the more ‘eyes and ears’ that are signed up the more proactive and effective a scheme becomes in providing the police with vital intelligence to prevent crime.

Neighbourhood Watch is being reinvigorated throughout the West Mercia Policing areas and the local volunteers of this national charity are being fully supported by the Chief Constable, Senior Management Teams and Police Officers of West Mercia Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion.
