FOR those who face a lonely Christmas this year, Heathbrook House are throwing open its doors to Bromsgrove’s elderly to spread the holiday spirit.

The care home, on Worcester Road in Stoke Heath, have partnered with the charity Community Christmas and believe no elderly person in the UK should be alone on Christmas Day – unless they want to be.

Simon Brown, general manager at Heathbrook House, said loneliness is a growing issue for the elderly throughout the year.

“It’s great that we are in a position to support Community Christmas by opening our doors on Christmas Day to offer our elderly community somewhere they can enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner and some festive fun in the company of others,” he said.

“I know our residents are looking forward to welcoming some new faces to the table on Christmas Day.”

The aim is to reduce isolation amongst the older generation, who at Christmas, say they can feel particularly lonely.
