A BURGLAR was chased off after he entered several homes in Evesham in the middle of the night and made off with cash.

The suspect who has been operating in Hampton, Evesham, is described as a white English male with black hair.

He was wearing jeans and a dark jacket and was possibly also seen wearing checked pyjama bottoms.

The suspect was active during the early hours of this morning and police are warning people to secure their doors and remain vigilant.

A house burglary was reported at Cartwright Way when entry was gained through an insecure door and cash was stolen (73s180219).

Another burglary was reported in Grey Gardens when cash was stolen after the suspect gained entry, again through an insecure door.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Occupiers had only just moved into the property and were sleeping downstairs. They gave chase to no avail."

Cash was also stolen from Hampton Working Men's Club (36s 180219).

There was also an attempted theft from a car at Jordon Grove (69s 180219). Nothing was stolen but damage was caused.

A spokesman for police said: "We're just asking for residents to keep an eye out and secure doors overnight while we try to identify who the offender is.

"In the meantime we will be upping patrols in the area during the early hours."
