WYE Valley Brewery's first lager has won a coveted National Beer Award.

1985, the first lager brewed by the Stoke Lacy based brewery, has been recognised at the prestigious SIBA National Independent Beer Awards by winning the hugely-competitive Premier Lagers and Pilsners category.

Since its launch in 2016, 1985 has picked up a plethora of awards, including Silver at the prestigious International Brewing Awards in 2017, less than a year after it was first brewed.

Vernon Amor, Managing Director at Wye Valley Brewery, said: "It’s an honour to win a national award and to be recognised for the hard work the team at Wye Valley Brewery put in each day to ensure our beers are among the best.

"1985 is exactly the lager we wanted it to be and we’re thrilled to have won against such impressive competition."

Abbie Gadd, Wye Valley Brewery's Head of Marketing said: "1985 is a real game-changer in the British craft lager market and I'm delighted industry experts recognise how good the product is."

Named after the year Wye Valley Brewery was founded, 1985 is brewed combining the best of British hops with European lager hops and is the first product Wye Valley Brewery has sold in 330ml bottles.
