MALVERN Hills District Council is looking for volunteers to join a community programme to combat waste.

It has been over a year since the council started regular waste and recycling newsletters to coincide with the move to Alternate Weekly Collections.

Since then residents have given feedback about the subject and asked for ways to get involved.

Led by Worcestershire County Council and Garden Organic, volunteers will go through a training programme which will enable them to deliver educations workshops and run information stalls at various events to help people reduce their household waste.

A Council spokesman said: "There are currently 26 dedicated and passionate volunteers signed up from across the county and they have engaged with more than 2,000 people so far.

"However, we need to do more and Malvern Hills District is one area where the scheme lacks volunteers.

"So if you have a passion for waste reduction and would like to help your community and support our planet then please consider getting involved.

"No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a little bit of your time. Together we can make the Malvern Hills District, and the rest of Worcestershire, one of the least wasteful areas in the country."
