A KINGSWINFORD schoolboy was selected to attend a prestigious St John Ambulance celebration in honour of his dedication to the lifesaving charity.

Ellis Walters, a 15-year-old pupil from Crestwood Secondary School, Kingswinford, was invited to the St John Ambulance gala evening at Bristol's Mercure Grand Hotel last month (March 30).

The young schoolboy was honoured by having his name listed on the "Celebrate Cadets" book on behalf of the St John Ambulance, West Region of England.

Ellis is a cadet member of Brierley Hill Unit of St John Ambulance which he has attended for several years.

The teenager provides first aid cover at events and enjoys helping his community.

He is a passionate fundraiser and already has raised more than £500 towards a new AID for his school.

He hopes to become a paramedic and has delivered first aid sessions to over 700 pupils already at his school.

His parents, Tracey and Geoff Walters, actively encourage their son's ambition and Tracey said: "We are proud of Ellis's achievement and we were thrilled to attend the famous St John Ambulance occasion in Bristol."
