AN anti litter group hit the streets of Evesham for their latest litter pick event and collected sacks of litter.

Members of Evesham Anti Litter Group carried out the litter pick on Saturday, April 13, around Bengeworth and Twford.

Coffee cups, bags of dog waste and cigarette ends were among the 18 sacks of litter picked up from the streets of Evesham.

In total 17 volunteers took part and the event was also supported by staff from the town’s Tesco and Waitrose stores.

In the two-and-a-half years the group has been running 41 picks have been carried out and a staggering 700 bags of litter were picked up.

The group continues to work with schools, businesses and residents to raise awareness of the impact of littering, and encourage people to change their behaviour.

Wychavon District Council is supporting the group’s work as part of its Just Bin It anti-litter campaign.

Bruce Taylor, from Evesham Anti Litter group, said: “The local levels of support for this work are high and a great testament to the people of Evesham and their wish to improve the town.”

The group’s next two planned litter picks have already been organised.

The first will be taking place on Thursday, April 25, from noon at Craven Court, and will be supported by Rooftop Housing.

The second will be taking place on Saturday, May 18, taking place from 10.30am and starting at the entrance to Forest Gate.

Anyone interested in taking part in the litter picks are invited to turn up on the day.
