DONKEYS Bluebell and Daisy will be delighting their fans one final time on the centre of Malvern over the May bank holiday weekend.
The event is being wound up because of the impact of age and illness on Rev Val Needham and her organising team, who have been running the annual event for many years.
And they will be going out with a flourish outside the Abbey Hotel and Malvern Museum on Sunday, May 5, at noon
The donkeys will be decked out in special floral garlands as they help Val Needham and her team to celebrate a decade of music and poetry, song and laughter, joy and blessings.
The event will include May sprigs, rose petals, costumes, and much more to welcome in the spring, plus music from Garry Low and Liz Pearman.
16-year-old master magician Thomas Coombes and 10-year-old Grace Giudicotti-Poplawska will be inviting aspiring apprentices to try out their magic, and there will be performed for the last time the traditional battle of the young Oak King and Old Father Winter before the crowning of the Queen of the May .
The event will finish with a triple blessing at the Malvhina Spring on Belle Vue Island at 1.05pm, conducted by Revs Sheila Simmonds, Peter Coombes and David Wetton.
Rev Needham said: "We will be collecting for two wonderful local charities, Penny Ha’Penny Horse and Pony Rescue Centre and Malvern Spa Association, without whom we would not have our wonderful well dressing festival or maintenance of our wells and springs. So please bring all your friends, families and much loved family pets and let’s make this the most memorable of May days "
