ENTRIES are now open for this year’s Timberhonger 10k and children’s challenge as part of Bromsgrove Carnival weekend at Sanders Park

The Timberhonger 10k has become a popular event in the Bromsgrove sporting calendar, and last year attracted more than 600 runners.

It is known for its friendly atmosphere and large carnival crowds cheering on runners as they go through the finish line.

Taking part this year will be runners from the Kingfisher Harriers club – distinctive in their orange running kit.

They will also be helping marshal the event, turning the junction of Timberhonger Lane and Berry Lane into ‘Kingfisher Corner’ for the evening.

Club chairman Ernie Heaton said: "We had the most fun supporting the event last year, it’s local, it’s fun, and there’s just a wee slope.

"To be asked to host the event this year is a fantastic opportunity for the club. We’re very proud and hope to be involved for many years to come."

This will be the 17th running of the Timberhonger 10k which has raised more than £50,000 for local good causes.

This year the event will be supporting Primrose Hospice, Libby Mae’s Little Angels, and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The accompanying children’s challenge for under 15s is held in Sanders Park with everyone taking part getting a finishers medal.

It is on Saturday, July 13.
