A KINGSWINFORD estate agents has closed suddenly, leaving tenants and landlords in the dark.

Holmes estate agents, in Market Street, has closed without warning and the company's other office in Wolverhampton has also reportedly shut down.

Tenants and landlords who dealt with the company are now demanding to be paid back their deposits and rent.

Concerned former tenant Sharon Lees is demanding that the company return the £900 deposit she paid when she took up a tenancy with Holmes for a property in Sedgley.

She rented from October 2016 to March 2019, and when she requested the return of her deposit, she was told it would be sent to her by post.

Her deposit has not arrived and the worried school worker has been repeatedly calling and emailing the company without success.

She said: “I haven’t got a clue what to do next, I don’t know what the next step is.

“I just hope that they don’t it to anybody else. We are hardworking, dependable people who trusted them.”

Landlords who used the company are also concerned, as tenants paid rent to them through the company.

James Robinson, who has been a landlord in Kingswinford for 15 years, said he has never seen anything like this happen before.

He says he is owed £4,032 in rent over a period of eight months. He has been chasing the company but they have not returned his calls or emails.

He said: “It’s really worrying, but what can you do?"

Ryan Barlow, from Stourbridge, says he was owed his £1,050 deposit and slammed the company’s refusal to talk to customers as ‘absolutely disgusting’.

He said: “There was no word of warning. It’s absolutely disgusting.”

Contractors who carried out work for the company are also worried their outstanding costs will not be paid.

Mark Weaver, a contractor from Brierley Hill, who did maintenance work for the company over three months last year says he is owed £4,100.

He is currently taking legal action against the firm.

It is not known why the company's offices have closed.

As yet, Holmes estate agents has not responded to numerous requests for comment from the News.
