A DISABLED driver with a racing car dream is finally seeing it fulfilled with his own bespoke racing car unveiled.

Petrol head and cerebral palsy sufferer Chris Carter made it on to the grid for the first time last year.

The 36-year-old was told he would never be able to drive but has always had a long held dream of becoming a racing driver. The father-of-two passed a manual driving test and wanted to show other disabled people they can realise their dreams by competing.

After networking with car enthusiasts and track day groups and raising thousands through sponsors, including with Monica's Fish Bar in Evesham High Street, he is making progress starting up his own racing academy and making his racing debut last year.

And now he has is competing in the Castle Combe Hot Hatch Saloon Championship, already getting some impressive results.

Mr Carter said: “I have spent the last few years working tirelessly to break into motorsport. In the last 12 months I’ve passed the MSA extended ARDS test, sourced my own race car, which has adaptations to suit my disability requirements, and begun to attract sponsors. I am laying the foundations for my race career. There are various opportunities available both in terms of financial backing and even non-financial involvement.

"Aside from pursing my dream, I am also working hard to provide the encouragement and support which others with disabilities may need in order to follow their dreams."
