BROMSGROVE South County Councillor Chris Bloore has praised Charford First School for saving a vital community asset.
Cllr Bloor praised headteacher Anita McLaren and her staff for their work in taking on the former Sunnyfields Children’s Centre (now known as the Charford Children’s Centre).
As part of the redevelopment, cllr Bloore provided a £1,780 grant to help re-paint and decorate the centre.
Whilst touring the children’s centre Cllr Bloore said: "When Worcestershire County Council decided they could no longer run the centre I was worried about the future of the wide variety of services at the centre.
"Services that support expecting parents, new parents, playgroups and help facilitate specialised learning programmes.
"I’m so pleased that under the leadership of Anita and the team at Charford First School, the centre has not only been saved but is thriving with local groups and services remaining at the centre."
The cllr added: "I am happy that my divisional fund donation was able to help re-decorate the centre and make it a bright and exciting place to be.
"It was great to have a tour and see the progress they’re making at the heart of our community and I’m so proud of the work they are doing."
