A SEARCH has been launched to find a local charity in Redditch and the surrounding areas which could benefit from a boost.

The search has been launched by housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, as its new retirement home on Clive Road begins to take shape.

The forthcoming development, Milward Place, named in recognition of Henry Milward and Sons, the first manufacturer of needles in Redditch, will eventually comprise one and two bedroom age-exclusive apartments, designed for people aged 60 and over.

With construction well underway, McCarthy and Stone is looking to pledge its support to a neighbourhood project, charity, or one-off event within the Redditch community.

Local groups and charities are being urged to get in touch as soon as possible by emailing requests to mccarthyandstone@mccann.com by July 31 (mark emails ‘Redditch Community Appeal’ in the subject header).

Clare Bright, from the firm, said: “Our fundamental aim when creating a development is to support and integrate McCarthy and Stone and our future homeowners into the local community.

“Following the visit from children from Holyoakes Field First School last month, we’re keen to do more to support our local community.

"Our developments are created with community in mind, and supporting local charities or neighbourhood projects allows us to create a positive legacy.”
