SCAMMERS are targetting elderly Herefordshire residents by ringing and claiming they are from the Metropolitan Police.
While on the phone, they ask for cash or bank details.
West Mercia Police are reminding people in the county that officers "will never do this" and any suspicious incidents should be reported.
They said victims are targeted because they are elderly, often vulnerable, trusting, have financial means with access to funds.
Police can be contacted on their non-emergency number 101.
