ACCESS to public transport has been identified as a key issue for people living in rural areas like Ludlow and south Shropshire as well as in Tenbury and the Teme Valley.

There is still time to ‘have a say’ on Worcestershire’s Passenger Transport Strategy

The Worcestershire County Council consultation with Worcestershire residents on the proposed Passenger Transport Strategy is set to close on Friday, September 13. The strategy will look at the many ways residents of Worcestershire are able to travel throughout the County.

Views and opinions of Worcestershire’s passengers and users are vital to make sure Passenger Transport Services meet the future needs of the local community.

The County Council is aiming to identify current and potential travel patterns and needs in order to prioritise and deliver the most effective, integrated transport service possible.

This consultation will specifically look at the contribution these services make to the local economy, and their value in terms of community, health and wellbeing.

Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways said that it is important to try to secure public transport. “I want to put the whole network onto a much more secure longer-term footing by finding out what services people actually want, what they’re prepared to pay for, and where the County Council can assist both financially and logistically with it all,” he said.

“It is a big task, but we need to be ambitious and innovative to ensure we have long-term provision for a County-wide network.”
