RESIDENTS are being asked to help draw up plans for a new play area in a Redditch park.

Consultation on the draft designs for the new play equipment and improvements to the open space at Arrow Valley Country Park will begin online on October 17.

There will also be two drop-in events at the countryside centre on October 18 and 19 from 11am and 3pm and officers will be on hand to chat to passers-by.

Section 106 monies, which have been given to Redditch Borough Council by developers to invest in the infrastructure of the area, is going to be used.

Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio-holder for leisure, Mike Rouse, said: “Like many residents, I use the playground at the lake. My two girls enjoy it, but I'm often hearing from fellow parents that it's high time for an upgrade.

"It's great that we have Section 106 monies to cover the costs, and we're keen to maximise the opportunity here by engaging with local residents so we can share ideas."

He added: "I particularly like the idea of carving a mini-amphitheatre so we can enable entertainment by the lake, but perhaps also a bit of parkour. It will be good to see what people think and what other ideas come forward."

People can see the designs online at redditchbc/consultations or drop in to the countryside centre.
