CHILDREN are reading less so a school has come up with a way to get them to read more.
Upton-upon-Severn C of E Primary School want members of the public to come in and read to the children, to act as positive role models.
Julie Wilson, head teacher at the school, said: "We want take an holistic approach and get children to read more.
"Children often go home and spend time on their computer or gaming and very little time reading outside of school and we've found this has an impact on academic performance.
"We want to rekindle the children's interest in books, away from too much technology use and this is based on Government research."

Emma Davies, literacy coordinator at the school, said: "Reading really is the key to everything for the child's life at school.
"The older children get, the less likely they are to read.
"We want people such as police, firemen to come along, as part of our Mystery Reader scheme, to talk about what they like to read and spend time reading to the children.
"We have lots of books too so they can even choose from our library."
