A MAN suffered potentially serious injuries in a crash that closed a main route through Herefordshire for several hours on Friday.

The A49 was closed between the Cadbury's roundabout and Dinmore Hill last week after a crash between a car and a 4x4 agricultural vehicle.

The A417 between Bodenham and Hope-under-Dinmore was also closed.

An ambulance service spokesperson said paramedics, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were called to reports of the crash at 5.24pm on October 11.

A man in his fifties was trapped inside his car for around 40 minutes, after it was significantly damaged in the crash.

The man was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters and received treatment at the scene for potentially serious injuries before being taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
