HUNDREDS or residents paid respect to those killed in war on Remembrance Sunday.

A solemn ceremony took place on Church Green in the town centre, as well as other war memorials across the area.

Present at the service were members of the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, Cadets, Scouts, Girl Guides, Cubs and Beavers, and veterans.

Also paying their respect was Conservative candidate for Redditch in the upcoming December election Rachel Maclean, a number of local councillors, and Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia Police John Campion.

Redditch Advertiser:

The service was led by vicar of St Stephen’s the Rev Paul Lawlor.

Redditch Advertiser:

Mrs Maclean said afterwards it was a tremendous privilege to lay a wreath to honour those who served us.

"Their sacrifices allow us to enjoy freedoms in our daily lives," she said.
