A REDDITCH man with theft in mind was nabbed at a Worcester railway station kitted out with bolt croppers.

Daniel Powers, aged 19, from Lock Close, was given an eight week jail term suspended for 12 months after he admitted two charges of being in possession of the croppers and one charge of attempting to steal a bicycle from Foregate Street station.

Worcestershire magistrates further handed Powers a community order including a requirement to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.

Also before Worcestershire magistrates:

Simon Andrews, aged 55, from Bromsgrove Road Redditch, was fined £120 for sending an indecent or offensive text message with the intention of causing alarm or distress.

He was fined a further £120 for using insulting words or behaviour on two occasions with the intention of causing alarm or distress.

Andrews, who pleaded guilty to the charges, was further instructed to pay costs of £70 and a victim surcharge of £32, magistrates also imposed a restraining order preventing Andrews contacting his victim.

Kieren Hoskins, aged 24, from Garway Close, Redditch, was given a 12 week curfew from 7pm to 7am after he admitted driving while disqualified.

Hoskins was further ordered to pay £135 costs and a £90 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without valid insurance.

Scott Revell, aged 45, from Oakenshaw Road, Redditch, was banned from driving for 16 months, fined £460 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a £46 victim surcharge.

Revell had pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Luke Allsop, aged 18, from Foxlydiate Crescent, Redditch, was fined £120, ordered to pay £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge after indicating a plea of guilty possessing a weapon designed to discharge electric pulses.

Adam Taylor, aged 27 of Dolben Lane, Redditch, was ordered to pay £400 compensation after he admitted criminal damage.

James Robinson, aged 38, of Crooks Lane, Studley, pleaded guilty to trespassing in the Alexandra Theatre in Redditch with intent to steal.

He was handed a 28 day curfew from 7pm to 7am as part of a community order which also included a drug rehabilitation requirement.

He was further ordered to pay £100 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Damien Bond, aged 35, of Wishaw Close, Redditch was banned from driving for six months, fined £660 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a Victim surcharge of £66.

Bond had been convicted of driving without an appropriate licence or insurance.

Safder Hussain, aged 48, of Feckenham Road, Redditch, was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £66, he was further banned from driving for six months.

Hussain had been convicted of failing to provide information about the driver of a vehicle involved in an alleged offence.
