IN a society that is becoming increasingly about material and individual needs it is time to better recognise people who work to bring joy to others.

This is the view of Ken Pollock, who represents Tenbury on Worcestershire County Council, as he told Tenbury Town Council.

“Just after the last town council meeting, the annual Armistice service was held, with a parade through the town to and from the church,” said Mr Pollock.

“It seemed to me to be very well attended and undoubtedly sincere in our gratitude to those who made such sacrifices in the past, so that we may enjoy freedom and prosperity now.

“The following Saturday, the Christmas lights were switched on, courtesy of the chamber of trade, and again large crowds were out in Teme Street to appreciate the beauty and colourfulness of the display.

“I am sure we are all grateful to those who made it possible for another year.

“Then, we were able to celebrate a major local product with the Mistletoe Festival, ably organised by your fellow councillor, Diann Dowell and her colleagues.

“With its climax being the Santa Parade, it was a memorable success, appreciated by hundreds.”
