WORK is set to start today (Tuesday) to replace the bearings on a busy Herefordshire bridge.

Essential work to replace the bearings at the western end of the B4399 Holme Lacy Bridge was originally expected to take place during last summer, but it was pushed back until September.

It was the delayed further as the council said work would get underway in the new year.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the majority of the work, with one lane remaining open.

  • There will be three-way traffic lights from 9am to 3pm each day until Monday, January 27, but there will be no traffic signals in operation over the weekend.
  • Three-way traffic lights will also be in operation during the same time on February 24 and 25.
  • It's also thought there will be a road closure in place from Wednesday, February 26, to Friday, February 28. Herefordshire Council is set to confirm closure times nearer the time.
