A MAN is appealing for donations to send a care package to a young Worcester boy who is fighting cancer.

Adam Llewellyn, from Worcester, has launched the appeal to send gifts to Oscar Saxelby-Lee who is battling leukaemia and receiving treatment in Singapore.

Mr Llewellyn said he would like to give the six-year-old toys and gift cards so the family can enjoy movies on iTunes together.

He said: “I think it would be nice to send Oscar and his parents a few gifts to help keep their spirits up as being isolated must be mentally challenging. The parents are doing amazing and Oscar is our little Worcester Warrior so let’s try raise a smile through these challenging times. It’s such a sad story I’m just praying for a happy ending for the family.”

Family helps flood victims in Worcestershire by offering free items and cooked meal

Since the plea, John Lenegan from Fight for Fitness in Sherriff Street has donated a month’s membership which will be put up for auction.

Ye Olde Talbot in Friar Street has donated around £100 towards the pot.

Mr Llewellyn said he is hoping to send the package to the family at the hospital in Singapore on Saturday (February 29).

Mr Llewellyn added: “Like many others across Worcestershire, I’ve been keeping a close eye on how Oscar and his family are since going to Singapore for the treatment. It must be so hard being away from friends and family while in a hospital that’s not like our NHS.

“We all wish we could help, and everyone donated an incredible amount to make this possible, but I had the idea after watching a few recent videos the family uploaded.”

If anyone would like to chip in or donate a prize to be auctioned off email adam.llewellyn@sky.com.

There will also be a card to sign at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Hand in Hand for Oscar, a facebook page run by Oscar's parents, recently revealed he has Leukoencephalopathy, a white matter disease that wears away internal tissue within the brain.
