POLICE are urging residents to make sure their garages are locked and secure after reports of a burglary and attempted break-in on the Penfields estate, Stourbridge.

The first incident happened in Grampian Road at around 1.45am on Friday February 21.

Offenders opened the garage door and tried the internal door into the property but they fled empty handed as the owner of the property was woken by the noise.

The second incident happened in Jardine Close at around 2.08am. Offenders tried unsuccessfully to gain access to a garage and they also tried the doors to several vehicles parked on the driveway.

Stourbridge PCSO Neal Hunt said a person was seen in the vicinity at the time of the incident, possibly on a pushbike, but it is not certain if they were linked to the reported offences.

Residents in the area are urged to make sure their garages are locked and secure and are also advised to fit an alarm or other security measures.
