AN Alvechurch man was disqualified for driving for four years and handed a 12-week suspended jail sentence after using his car just weeks after a prior disqualification.

Tom Marsden, 36, of Kiln Court, Alvechurch, was sentenced to eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, for failing to provide a blood specimen when required to do so.

He also received a four-week suspended sentence, to run consecutively, for driving while disqualified, and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £257.

Magistrates took Mr Marsden’s guilty pleas into consideration when sentencing but classed the offences as serious because he had driven just weeks after a previous disqualification.

In other cases before Worcester Magistrates in recent days:

Daniel Wilcox, 32, of Arundel Road, Hollywood, was given a three-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, for possessing a bladed article, namely a lock knife, in a public place, Station Road, Wythall.

He was also ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £307 by Worcestershire Magistrates.

Anthony Whittaker, 40, of Acorn Road, Catshill, was fined £200, to be paid by March 6, after admitting breaching a domestic violence protection order.

Tara Richardson, 31, of Sheldon Close, Wychbold, was fined £190 and ordered to fulfil a community rehabilitation programme after pleading guilty to three separate charges of stealing spirits worth a total of £236.50 from the Waitrose supermarket in Bromsgrove.

Lewis Wade, 23, of Hearl Road, Saltash, Cornwall, was banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £780 after admitting drug-driving in Bromsgrove.

Mr Wade was found to have cocaine in his blood when driving on Malthouse Lane, Bromsgrove on May 31, 2019.

Mark Coles, of Birmingham Road, Alvechurch, was sent to prison for seven days after pleading guilty to stealing two pairs of sunglasses and Apple Air Pods belonging to a woman. The defendant’s previous record of offending contributed to the prison sentence. He was also fined £122.

David Burdis, 49, of Arlingham Avenue, Bromsgrove, must complete 100 hours of unpaid work after admitting a charge of threatening unlawful violence towards other persons. He was also ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £275.

Nicholas Carter, 33, of Market Way, Hagley, was banned from driving for a year and fined £1,351 after pleading guilty to driving over the alcohol limit on Woodcote Lane, Bromsgrove, on February 1.
