IS your favourite pub a home from home, somewhere that always has a welcome for local and stranger alike?

Is the food divine, and the ale always served foaming with freshness and flavour?

Is it clean, comfortable, and on a winter’s night warm and cosy?

Then it could be a contender for the Hereford Times Readers Pub of the Year Award.

We are looking for somewhere that typifies what a good neighbourhood pub should be, and are seeking entries now!

All you have to do is tell us, in 200 words or fewer, which pub you think should be awarded the title, and why.

Our competition is sponsored by Wye Valley Brewery, which is offering a Brewery Goody Box to someone simply for sending us an entry! The prize includes:

  • A case of 8x500ml bottles of Eskimo’s Kiss, a limited-edition warming winter ale with a moreish biscuit-base
  • A case of 8x500ml bottles of the deliciously hoppy session IPA Hopfather
  • 12x330ml bottles of Fandango, a hoppy hootenanny of an ale with light, citrusy undertones
  • A gift pack that includes a bottle of the multiple award-winning lager 1985, and a stemmed glass
  • A 1985 ‘graffiti’-style T-shirt in a size of your choosing

All the entries we receive will be entered into a draw, and the editor's decision will be final.

Entries for the Hereford Times Pub of the Year award can be submitted by email only.

Send your entry to news@herefordtimes.com, add ‘pub of the year’ to your subject line, and ensure it reaches us before the closing date of Friday, April 3.

Don’t forget to include your name and address, the name of the pub, AND the reason why you think it should win.

We welcome pictures of you at your favourite pub if you have any.

If you nominate a pub you automatically give us permission to have your name and your reasons for doing so published in the Hereford Times, on its website and social media accounts.

Our decision on the Pub of the Year winner will be based on the quality of the nomination(s) received, NOT the number.

Pubs must be within the Hereford Times circulation area.

The person whose entry wins our draw must collect their prize by appointment from the Hereford Times office at Stirling House, Suite 23, Centenary Park, Skylon Central, Hereford HR2 6FJ.
