A PHOTOGRAPHER has won plaudits for capturing far away galaxies from his back garden in Redditch.

Andy Taylor has blown photography fans on the Advertiser and Shuttle Camera Club away with his stunning snaps of outer space.

He has managed to capture the Black Eye galaxy on camera- which is a staggering 17 million light years away- along with shots of nebula and meteor showers.

Speaking about his work, Andy told the Advertiser: "I like taking night time and long exposures generally with my DSLR and astro was a next step for me. I mostly take these from the back garden using a telescope, an astro camera and a guided mount that tracks a star in the field of view to stop the stars from trailing."

Redditch Advertiser:

His snaps of the Black Eye galaxy were based from a stack of 100 photos, each taking four minutes of exposure, which clocked up seven hours of work.

Andy added: "It's galaxy season for us at the moment, so there are lots of galaxies to photograph during the spring, but I also like photographing other deep sky things like nebula, the moon and key events like meteor showers and eclipses."

Redditch Advertiser:
