A MAIN Herefordshire route was closed this afternoon after a crash involving a lorry and a motorbike.

Traffic heading in both directions between Bridge Sollers and Staunton on Wye on the A438 was affected.

Police were at the scene of the crash. The road wasclosed in both directions, and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.55am to reports of an collision involving a lorry and motorbike on the A438 in Bridge Sollers.

"One ambulance attended the scene. We treated one male patient, who was the motorcyclist, for injuries not believed to be serious."

The motorcyclist was taken to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment by land ambulance.
