THE tip in Upton Upon Severn will re-open this weekend following calls from councillors for its return.

The Household Recycling Centre re-opens on June 6 and will have extended opening times for a limited period.

The usual number of days the site will be open will be extended from three days to five days for a two-week period from June 6.

The site will be open for five days from Saturday, June 6 to Wednesday, June 10 and five days from Sat, June 13 to Wednesday, June 17 before the usual three days a week opening starts from June 20.

There will be queuing systems in place to help maintain social distancing, and Cllr Tony Miller, cabinet member with responsibility for the environment, said: "With Upton opening on Saturday this means we have been able to open all but one of our HRC’s within the last 4 weeks.

"I’d like to take the opportunity to thank staff for their hard work in implementing the new social distancing rules and thank residents for their patience whilst abiding by these rules.

"Please continue to check the Let’s Waste Less website before travelling so you are clear on the restrictions that are in place, across all of our operating sites."
