THE campaign to save a charity which provides potentially life-saving training has been further boosted.

Heartstart Malvern, who provide defibrillator training across the county, announced they needed urgent funds to keep their life-saving work going after their events were cancelled due to coronavirus.

Since then, the community in Malvern has joined together to show their support.

Trustee and trainer David Bijl has been supporting the charity, raising more than £1,000 through five days of six-kilometre runs, one day with a 12 kilometre run and then a 75 kilometre bike ride.

Fellow Heartstart Trustee Sarah Grout said: “On behalf of Heartstart Malvern we’d like to say a huge ‘Congratulations’ to David and express our many thanks to all those who have supported David in every respect with their encouragement and incredibly generous donations to our Heartbeat Appeal.

“This makes a world of difference to our small charity during such a challenging time. Thanks to the support of David and others we are now over half way towards our Appeal total.”

Heartstart provides defib training to community groups, free of charge, in May, the charity launched an urgent appeal after tis fundraising events were cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.

It launched an urgent ‘Heartbeat Appeal’ and it is inviting supporters to take up its ‘6K Challenge’. Supporters can take up any activity they like based on the number or theme of 6,000.
