A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been inducted as a Lions Club district governor, one of only eight in the UK.
Richard Williams, who was born on a dairy farm in Wellington, Herefordshire, started his voluntary work for the organisation as a junior lion at Hereford Lions Club, before becoming a member in Kidderminster for work related reasons.
As a district governor, Richard, who still lives in Leominster, is the chief administrative officer and team leader for clubs from Fishguard in the west, to Melton Mowbray in the east.
In Herefordshire, there are three very active Lions Clubs, in Hereford, Ross-On-Wye and Kington, while a new club is planned for Bromyard.
The voluntary organisation welcomes all ages, and has almost 1.4 million members worldwide.
Their work ranges from helping to tackle issues such as diabetes, the environment, world hunger, and childhood cancer, to doing what they can for their local communities,
