FITNESS businesses are looking forward to starting to reopen from tomorrow, some four months on from the start of lockdown.

Rebecca Sloan-Kirton, runs BALLET MALVERN Centre of Dance from Cowleigh Road, said: “We’ve still been running our online classes and will be back fully in September - we have small groups anyway and big studios so we will cope very well.

“Some students are vulnerable so it’s important to only return fully when safe.”

John Clark, owner of FIT3SIXTY Malvern, in Hampden Road, said: “We’ve been delivering outdoor fitness classes since social isolation was relaxed anyway, along with Malvern Rugby Football Club, as we wanted to still engage with the community, but it’s incredible to be able to open again.

“As a private gym, you have to arrive by appointment anyway so we’re carrying on with this, as well as lots of hand sanitiser stations.

“Also, equipment will not be shared, and class sizes will be kept small.”

“We’ll be back in September.”

Malvern mayor, cllr Neil Morton, said: “It’s good to see gyms reopening tomorrow in the town and this is good for customers but in particular, the people who work there so they can get back to work.

“We’re just waiting to hear when Malvern Theatres can reopen.

Speaking at the full meeting of Malvern Hills District Council on July 21, council leader Sarah Rouse said: “In respect of our town centres, we have made a bid for money to support the safe re-opening of out high streets. We have provided advice to parishes on the safe re-opening of play areas, the splash and other centres, which are planned to be opened by Freedom leisure from this Saturday.”
