KIDDERMINSTER X Factor hopeful Richard Ryan will be getting Stourport in the festive spirit when he turns on the town’s Christmas lights.

Organisers of the annual Three Kings Parade and lights switch on said they were delighted the 25-year-old would be doing the honours at the event, which will be held on Friday, November 23.

Firefighter Richard made it through the live audition of the ITV show – broadcast on September 15. Although he failed to impress Simon Cowell, he earned resounding ‘yes’ votes from the other judges Robbie Williams, Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson.

The parade, which will take place between 4pm and 7pm, will feature pupils from Stourport schools carrying the three kings alongside bands and performers.

Committee chairman Pete Roberts said they were looking for more street performers to come forward to take part.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted that Richard Ryan has agreed to switch on Stourport’s Christmas lights this year.

“He has performed many shows locally and has always gone down a storm. He is an outstanding talent and we wish him well for the rest of the X Factor competition.

“We are also appealing for buskers, fire-eaters, stilt walkers and other performers to come forward and join the parade. This year’s event is set to be one of the biggest yet.”
