THE annual Bewdley Festival is in full swing with international and regional performers delighting audiences at a range of events.

The festival commenced last Friday (October 12) with a memorable performance from Fine young Cannibals singer Roland Gift, getting the Bewdley crowd up dancing along at the Mercure Heath Hotel venue.

The night started with a collaborative performance from singer Mish Maybe and her band, and black country poet Liz Berry.

Saturday welcomed an engaging talk Edward the First by Max Keen at the Bewdley Baptist Church, and a side-splitting stand-up show by young whimsical comedian James Acaster.

Sunday events featured a special Opera in the Afternoon concert at St Anne's Church, where enthusiasts were treated to renditions of beloved musical pieces, as well as a funny evening of anecdotes and life stories by TV and radio broadcaster and quizmaster Jeremy Vine.

People can still catch events this week including the Clare Teal Trio on Thursday October 18, Scottish singer Eddi Reader and her band on the Friday October 19, and a comedy showcase on the final evening (October 20).

There are also a host of day events featuring notable historians and writers at various venues in the town.
