THE annual Bewdley Festival came to a close last week with a host of memorable performances over the final three days.

Bewdley welcomed top performers and speakers including historians, star singers and comedians to the festival stages throughout the town in another successful year of entertainment.

The Thursday events (October 18) began with a presentation by film-maker David Parker, who discussed his documentary series about steam railways, and his film on the world famous Flying Scotsman.

Radio personality Tim Bentinck of The Archers fame entertained audiences by sharing his life experiences later on in the afternoon.

The evening brought the talented singer Clare Teal and her trio of musicians to the Festival Theatre, delivering a magical performance and captivating the Bewdley audience.

On the Friday, (October 19) Professor Maggie Andrews gave a thought-provoking lecture on "Hidden Heroines" in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Suffragettes movement.

Audiences on the evening were treated to a special performance by Scottish singer Eddi Reader, who performed with her full 8 piece band.

The Fairground Attraction singer received a standing ovation after delivering a vibrant and memorable performance.

The Saturday (October 20) saw performer Lesley Smith entrancing the Bewdley audience with a performance of Mary, Queen of Scots in the afternoon, filled with humour and charm.

The final event was the Comedy Showcase showstopper hosted by Jo Enright and featuring Ed Aczel and Welsh comedian Dan Thomas, who gave laugh-out-loud performances.

The Festival concluded with a Sunday morning service held at St Annes dedicated to "Healing and Reconciliation," which saw performances by the choirs of Festival Voices and local Schools.
