PUPILS and staff at Heathfield Knoll School and First Steps Day Nursery have been busy performing this festive season.

The HKS Choir and Band have been lucky enough to record their very own version of Band Aid's 'Do they Know it's Christmas' at Base Studios in Stourbridge.

The school is also asking for donations to support their chosen charities Wyre Forest Nightstop and Kidderminster Foodbank.

Earlier this month, four Year 11 pupils took advantage of one of the digital recording studios and created their very own podcast.

Pupils were able to see how a professional studio works and in the podcast shared their thoughts about HKS.

Jack Wharton, Captain of School and Year 11 pupil attended the session and said: "It was awesome being able to see and record in a professional studio. I want to come back again and record another podcast."

Mrs Jane Cain, head of music, said "This was the first time many of the pupils have been in a professional recording studio. I am so pleased we are able to offer this opportunity to our pupils especially those with a keen interest in music and performing."

Mr Lawrence Collins, Headmaster of Heathfield Knoll School and First Steps Day Nursery said “Do they know it’s Christmas?’ (Geldof, 1984).

"In answer to this question, there is no doubt that at the end of a busy, productive and enjoyable term that children and staff are very much aware that Christmas is almost here. Working in a school has many joys, but there are few workplaces where there is such enthusiasm and excitement at this time.

"Nevertheless, beyond school there are many who might struggle to note much different about their Christmas.

"This is why we have decided to use our new video to help raise awareness and funds for Wyre Forest Night Stop and Kidderminster Food Bank. Please think of others less fortunate than yourself and consider sharing your cheer and love this Christmas.”
